To install the ENVI HiRISE Toolkit simply follow these steps:

*** NOTE: If you are updating a previous installation of the HiRISE ***
*** Toolkit make sure to delete / overwrite any older versions of ***
*** the toolkit files on your computer. In particular, it is very ***
*** important that you only have one version of the main program ***
*** "envi_hirise_toolkit.sav" file on the computer. ***

1) Make sure you are running ENVI 4.3 or newer. This toolkit is not
supported in older versions of the software.

2) Move the "envi_hirise_toolkit.sav" file to the "save_add/" subfolder
of the ENVI installation. For example:

ENVI 4.3:
   - Windows : C:\RSI\IDL##\products\envi##\save_add\
   - Mac OS X : /Applications/rsi/idl_#.#/products/envi_#.#/save_add/
   - UNIX/Linux : /usr/local/rsi/idl_#.#/products/envi_#.#/save_add/

ENVI 4.4, 4.5, & 4.6:
   - Windows : C:\Program Files\ITT\IDL##\products\envi##\save_add\
   - Mac OS X : /Applications/itt/idl##/products/envi##/save_add/
   - UNIX/Linux : /usr/local/itt/idl##/products/envi##/save_add/

3) Move the "datum.txt" and "ellipse.txt" files to the "map_proj/"
subfolder, thereby overwriting the existing versions of these files:

ENVI 4.3:
   - Windows : C:\RSI\IDL##\products\envi##\map_proj\
   - Mac OS X : /Applications/rsi/idl_#.#/products/envi_#.#/map_proj/
   - UNIX/Linux : /usr/local/rsi/idl_#.#/products/envi_#.#/map_proj/

ENVI 4.4, 4.5, & 4.6:
   - Windows : C:\Program Files\ITT\IDL##\products\envi##\map_proj\
   - Mac OS X : /Applications/itt/idl##/products/envi##/map_proj/
   - UNIX/Linux : /usr/local/itt/idl##/products/envi##/map_proj/

4) Restart ENVI.

5) Select "File > Preferences", and within the "System Preferences"
dialog navigate to the "User Defined Files" tab.

6) In the text box to the right of the "User Defined Motion Routine"
parameter enter "envi_hirise_motion". Make sure to define the
MOTION routine parameter, and NOT the move routine parameter.

7) Press the "OK" button, answer "Yes" to save preferences to a file,
leave the default filename and press "OK", and answer "Yes" to
   overwrite the existing file.

8) There are 4 components within the toolkit that can be utilized when
   working with HiRISE image data:

   - File > Open External File > MRO > HiRISE RDR
Use this utility to open the HiRISE datasets. This menu option
should be used when opening HiRISE images in PDS .JP2, PDS .IMG,
JPEG, PNG, and TIFF file formats

   - File > Open External File > MRO > View PDS Metadata
Use this utility to view the PDS metadata in an interactive viewer.

   - Basic Tools > Calibrate HiRISE to I/F
Use this utility to apply the scaling factor & offset.

   - Within a main image or zoom display window of HiRISE data, you can
click-and-drag with the middle mouse button and see a custom cursor
location dialog that display both planetocentric and planetographic
coordinates. This utility does not work within the Scroll window as
the middle mouse button performs the meta scroll functionality.
